Kitletics Review · 7.6 Solid
Samsung Galaxy Watch9 is a GPS running watch. Samsung’s current daily Wear OS runner — 40 mm / 31.5 g primary with dual GPS, NFC, Galaxy Health and Running Coach — for Galaxy-phone athletes who want a compact smartwatch more than a dedicated Forerunner. I'd shortlist it for compact 40 mm / 31.5 g Wear OS daily with dual GPS and Samsung Pay. The trade-off is typical use around 30–40 hours — daily charging, not a long-event GPS tool — Garmin Forerunner 165 is the cleaner compare when that is most of your week. It fits buyers who actually need a GPS running watch, not a one-product rotation.

How it performs
Fit & Comfort
40 mm / 31.5 g is the small-wrist Galaxy — a different last from Ultra2's 47 mm / 61.5 g. The 44 mm / 34 g / 445 mAh variant exists if you want more screen. Sport Black packshot is a round Wear OS case, not a titanium ultra bezel. Easy daily wear; not a 21-day Amazfit.
GPS & Navigation
Dual-frequency GPS is listed. Offline topo maps are not the brief — Wear OS / phone-assisted navigation, unlike Balance 3's 64GB contour maps or Ultra2's adventure mapping stack. Dedicated GPS hours are unpublished; we do not copy Ultra 2025's 48 h figure onto this model.
Battery
Up to 40 hours AOD off / 30 hours AOD on. That is a nightly charge for most runners. Fine for a 10K or half if you start full; a poor tool for a mountain weekend. Ultra2's 60 h AOD-on claim is the step up inside Samsung, still not Amazfit typical-use weeks.
Why Watch9 and not Watch FE
Watch FE is a lifestyle/budget Galaxy, not a Running GPS discovery model. Watch8 was discontinued 22 July 2026. Watch9 is the current compact dual-GPS Wear OS watch that belongs next to Ultra 2025 / Ultra2. Classic and LTE SKUs are regional duplicates, not separate catalog.…
